Phobia Clinic - VR THerapy

Traditional exposure therapy approaches can be limiting, expensive, or difficult to access for many phobias, such as fear of flying, Needle phobia, dental phobias, or fear of MRI machines.

Through our unique virtual experiences, you will be able to safely engage in situations not otherwise easily accessible.

This will provide you with valuable chances to practice the skills and techniques you’ve learned and stop letting your fears control your life.

The Phobia Clinic helps you to overcome your fears with Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy. In recent years Virtual Reality has become an increasingly popular alternative to hypnosis and traditional therapy.

One benefit of Virtual Reality is that it enables clients to practice the skills learned in therapy before facing a real-world phobic scenario. With virtual reality you will be able to gain confidence through practicing with a psychologist and a VR headset.

Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy

Virtual reality exposure therapy is a form of exposure therapy that uses technology.

Exposure therapy seeks to help decrease the intensity of the stress responses you might have to situations, thoughts, or memories which provoke anxiety or fear.

VRET can safely mimic those situations and provide an environment that can simulate the person’s real-life experience.

Phobia's that we can help treat

Using VR exposure therapy together with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy it is possible to reduce your fears and take control of your life.

neurohealth

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress. It is a treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

During EMDR therapy sessions, you relive traumatic or triggering experiences in brief doses while the therapist directs your eye movements.

EMDR is thought to be effective because recalling distressing events is often less emotionally upsetting when your attention is diverted. This allows you to be exposed to the memories or thoughts without having a strong psychological response.

Over time, this technique is believed to lessen the impact that the memories or thoughts have on you.
